The faux leather has a smooth finish and is comfortable against the skin. There is enough padding in the cuffs to prevent chafing, at least. The clips are of exceptional quality; they feel sturdy and have a smooth, brass-like finish. The clips definitely won't break under normal use. The sizing options do actually accommodate a wide range, and have a snug fit. I can still fit a finger underneath the cuffs when fitted properly on me. The kit is easy to set up, with or without assistance. I can still comfortably reach around and undo any of the clips myself, if needed. I do wish there was a loop to secure the tail of the belt on the wrist & ankle cuffs, like there is on the waist belt. It can be a little bothersome having those swinging around. Overall, I'm really pleased with the production quality of this kit! It's absolutely worthwhile as a starter kit, especially at the price of ~$30
